Automatic Moments

In a continuation of my current infatuation with Path, let’s discuss Automatic Moments. Automatic Moments are the posts/updates/shares that happen automatically in Path without you having to do anything. According to the web settings panel this is limited to location changes. For example, when I ride my bike from my place downtown to the Starbucks in Riverside (a different neighborhood), Path knows and posts an update saying that I’m now in Riverside.

That’s cool. It’s a non-specific, non-creepy, and relevant location update.

Automatic Moments is downright phenomenal product design. It makes me feel like Path knows me more personally than any other social product. It makes Path intelligent. It makes accurate assumptions about how I want to use the product (to share my goings-on). It’s like a lover that knows what you like, and does it without having to ask.
